(Washington, D.C.) – MWS Global Strategies today announced the appointment of Cody Tucker as Senior Vice President, deepening the firm’s capabilities in government relations, public policy, and strategic communications. Tucker brings more than 15 years of experience advancing complex legislative and public affairs priorities at the intersection of business, government, and politics.

Tucker most recently served as Vice President of Federal Affairs at the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA), where he helped lead the association’s federal strategy and directed legislative and political advocacy efforts on a broad portfolio of issues including tax, trade, agriculture, and appropriations. He played a pivotal role in helping navigate the hospitality sector through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic—advocating for wine and spirits wholesalers as essential businesses—and led strategic efforts on a range of high-stakes issues, including combatting retaliatory tariffs, shaping federal tax policy, and navigating the evolving regulatory landscape for hemp and cannabis reform.

Prior to WSWA, Tucker served as Director of Public Affairs and Communications at the Progressive Policy Institute, where he led the think tank’s integrated communications and policy advocacy strategy—directing media relations, serving as on-the-record spokesperson, and advancing the organization’s policy agenda before Congress, federal agencies, and international governments and stakeholders. He also previously served as Communications Director for Congressman Kurt Schrader and the fiscally responsible Blue Dog Coalition in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he managed media operations, crisis response, and political campaign strategies.

Across roles, Tucker has cultivated deep bipartisan relationships on Capitol Hill and developed a reputation for crafting winning strategies across policy, political, and communications fronts.

“Cody’s policy depth, political instincts, and strong network make him a critical asset for our clients navigating today’s fast-moving policy landscape,” said Jeff Wiener, Partner at MWS Global Strategies. “His leadership will significantly enhance our ability to deliver results across a wide range of industries and issues.”

A Southern California native, Tucker holds a B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of Oregon. He is based in Washington, D.C.
